Siding & exterior walls
One side of your house may look fine while another is faded or peeling. That's why we look around the whole area you want painted. The siding material, old finish, and worn spots all help us figure out what needs cleaning, scraping, or priming.
Point out any places where paint keeps coming loose. We want to understand what's happening there before covering it again. Once we've looked it over, we can talk about the color and the work needed underneath it.
You can also show us the surfaces from inside the yard or from the street if one view makes the problem easier to see. We'll identify which walls and details belong in the estimate instead of assuming every outside surface is included.
Trim, fascia & soffits
Window surrounds, roofline trim, and soffits can be easy to miss when you're thinking about the main wall color. Walk us through the pieces you want included, particularly anything that's peeling, has open joints, or is difficult to reach.
We'll look at the condition and access before putting the estimate together. If a piece needs repair rather than just paint, we'll point it out so you can decide how to handle it.
If you're changing the trim color, include the smaller pieces in the conversation too. Shutters, door surrounds, and fascia can be easy to overlook. We'll go around the areas together so you can decide which details you want finished.
Doors & entryways
Sometimes the front door is all you're looking to refresh. Other times it makes sense to paint it along with the frames and surrounding exterior. Tell us whether you want a different color, a similar finish, or help deciding what to include.
We'll check the door material and existing coating first. It also helps to know which entrance you use most so access can be discussed while the door is being worked on.
Think about the whole entry, including the frame and surrounding trim. Let us know if you want those refreshed with the door or left as they are. We'll discuss the preparation and access for the pieces you've chosen.
Brick & masonry
If you're thinking about painting brick or another masonry surface, let's look at it together first. The condition, any existing coating, and the appearance you're after all matter. It isn't something we treat exactly like wood siding.
Show us stains, flaking areas, or spots that stay damp. We'll discuss what the surface needs and whether painting is a suitable choice before you settle on a color or coating.
If the masonry has been painted before, tell us what you know about that finish. We'll look at the surface that's there now and talk about your expectations. Keeping some texture visible and aiming for a solid painted appearance are different choices.
